Rural-SIRCS Enhances and Links Existing Schemes and Individuals

The Rural-SIRCS scheme has been specifically designed to work with, complement and join up existing schemes, individual rural businesses and farms. The use of SIRCS (Secure Incident Reporting Community-engagement System) dramatically improves information sharing and its use is highlighted as national good practice by the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA).

SIRCS is a proven system that is used by business crime reduction partnerships in towns and cities across the country. It is used by the gaming industry to run their national crime reduction partnership and is used in Norfolk to run a countywide scheme to link up all the local Pub Watch schemes.

Rural-SIRCS will enable rural businesses, crime reduction partnerships, agencies and organisations from across the UK to legally access and share information with one another.

Minimal Contribution Model to Enable Maximum Participation

Access to the Rural-SIRCS National Crime Reduction Scheme will be available on a minimum contribution basis of £25* per annum per farm.

All Police officers and PCSO’s  accessing the Rural-SIRCS Database will have the advantage of having free access to the SIRCS National Business Crime Reduction Database and the Environmental SIRCS National Database. Some designated police officers and PCSO’s will be able to apply for enhanced moderator access permissions allowing them to administer reports and upload them to the system. free training sessions will be provided at Empowering-Communities offices in Lowestoft.

The rural community will have the advantage of using an accessible, secure and encrypted crime management system that will make information securely available via the internet, intranet or mobile phone.

Empowering-Communities is a self sustaining not for profit Social Enterprise. Rural businesses and farms using the system will be charged a one off registration fee of £19*. This is to cover registering their business on the system, signing up users, logging the coordinates of their farms/businesses for geo mapping and issuing usernames and passwords.

Rural-SIRCS members will need to display a membership sign that helps compliance with the Data Protection Act. These full colour, metal signs should be displayed at all farm entrances and inform the public that information may be shared locally and nationally. Rural-SIRCS memberships signs are available from Empowering-Communities at a cost of £35* plus P&P.
