Q. Do Empowering Communities systems have online help facilities?

A. Yes our systems do have online help facilities. Our systems have been developed for use by people with the lowest skill levels and the same principle has been applied to the online help facility. User guides are written in simple language with screens shots to help the user. There are video tutorials as well and users can also take advantage of our free one to one telephone sessions.

In a recent user survey 75% of users said they found our systems very easy or easy to use. A further 10.7% said they found them as easy as other systems to use. Suffolk Police have informed us that it takes less than 10 minutes for a user to learn how to use our E-CINS systems.

Q. Regarding user training how is training for the Empowering Communities disseminated to users?

A. As we do not charge individual user licences we knew that our systems had to be easy to use, intuitive with minimal training requirements. As part of the Empowering Communities package we offer one days training for key users/administrators and this has worked very well in the areas where Empowering Communities systems are live. We also offer free training sessions at our offices in Lowestoft and users/teams can book free ‘one to one’ training sessions over the telephone. Suffolk Police have told us that a user can be trained in just 10 minutes

The Home Office ASB and Youth Crime Team also asked us to develop an Empowering Communities demo/training system. This is free to use and other schemes have found it beneficial to give key users access to this system prior to going live so they can practice on a ‘live’ training system.

A growing library of video tutorials on the more advanced system features is also available to view from within our systems. These videos have no sound but are annotated instead, as many agencies PC’s do not have speakers.

Empowering Communities also use Auto-responders to send top-tips emails to all users. These include links to the relevant videos and these help to remind users of the time-saving features available on their system and how to use them.

Empowering Communities systems are intuitive and easy to use. A simple and straightforward ‘Getting Started’ guide for all access groups is available to view once logged into your system. This provides Users all the information they need to get started.

The guides show how to set up your security code and for administrators, how to sign up other users. It also explains the basic level functions including how to enter Profiles and Reports onto the system plus what to do if Passwords or Security Codes are forgotten.

Empowering-Communiies provide users with access to free Webinars or Web-based seminars.

The Home Office ASB and Youth Crime Team also asked us to develop an Empowering Communities demo/training system. This is free to use and other schemes have found it beneficial to give key users access to this system prior to going live so they can practice on a ‘live’ training system.

Free one to one telephone sessions are available to all users of Empowering-Communities systems.
